My dear friends & readers, here we are back
on track sharing new projects & new images in our blogs Boulevard de
L'antique: Crafts & Decor and Retro Scrap Freebies. We have been working on
new ideas that we will be posting very soon.
If you follow our blog you will know that we like to
create “decoupage scenes” in many of my vintage boxes, scenes that might tell a
story or picture a landscape. This time my
mind flew to the streets of Paris back in the 1800’s, and this is what I
imagined "Beautiful ladies walking on Saturday evening on a street by a
hill from which you can see in the distance the Eiffel Tower and even a
zeppelin across the sky"
For this project I wanted to combine the techniques of
Decoupage and Image Transfer, so the background buildings, the Eiffel Tower and zeppelin
are done by transferring the images and the ladies with decoupage.
I kept the inside of the box very simple, just stamped
some vintage graphics related to Paris in black ink.
At the beginning I decided to paint the box in pink, gray and black, but somehow on the way especially after having glued the ladies to
the surface, I changed my mind into dark purple, gray and black, and when repainted I
realized the purple was a better choice for this project.
As a decorative touch
I stamped a nice old looking handwriting over the purple and the black and also
stamped some Eiffel Towers and the Arch of Triumph.
The buildings
were taken from a French Architecture Book and the ladies from Fashion Plates
of the early 1800’s that you can find HERE.
For the Image
transfer technique, I printed the images on a laser printer (mirror), glue them with Mod
Podge to the surface of the box exactly where I wanted them to be and let it
dry for 24 hours. Next day I peeled the
paper off with wet fingers slowly in circular motion, until the image came
through. For the decoupage, we used the standard “step by step”
you can find Here.
The box was a tobacco box and it looked like this
before:
It was a fun project; I enjoyed working on it very
much.
I hope you liked this project and for Free Vintage
Images to use in your projects don't forget to visit our Retro Scraps Blog.
Every week we have the great opportunity to participate and share our
projects in awesome parties, please visit them and see what talented artists
and crafters are creating.
