Last month I posted about the Tynemouth Flea Market in UK and I mentioned we
would continue sharing info about other interesting antique & vintage places, stores
and things we found in the cities we visited during that particular
cruise itinerary and also future finds as well. So, there is a lot to share and I thought it would be nice to do so in a series of posts we will call: “A walk in Time”.
Today I want to show you a
really cute and interesting small Medieval Shop we found in Tallinn, Estonia.
Olde Hansa is the name of this Medieval Restaurant and Shop located in
the heart of the medieval city of Tallinn. The shop exhibits beautiful and practical items from medieval Europe.
They sell reproductions of medieval items which are suitable for
everyday use. Everything is handmade and modelled after actual medieval
artifacts, yet designed to be durable and practical for the home (e.g.
Dishwasher and microwave safe.) Take a trip through history!
The vendors are all dressed up in the medieval fashion, I never had the
chance before to see in person the replicas of medieval fashion, so I was very happy to observe the simple clothing but yet very charming and colorful; and believe me my mind immediately
travelled back in time picturing it.
For a moment we felt like we were on a museum, the décor around the shop
was very nice, with heraldic shelves, old world maps and many other items
typical of that era.
Even the ceiling was all painted; every little corner of this shop was
carefully decorated.
We did not have enough time to go to the restaurant though, as most of our time
was spent in the gorgeous store, but I checked their website and it looks
amazing, we would have loved to enjoy a medieval meal.
I loved this shop, they have jewelry, spices, glassware, pottery,
medieval clothes, shoes, metal & wood work, baskets and many other adorable
items, I wanted to buy the whole store, but he did not let me hehe!, however this shop inspired me to do some projects that I am working on and will show you in near future.
This shop is definitely special, but what I liked the most was the time
travel you get to experience; having the replicas of the real things in my
hands and being able to actually stand on a medieval times “set” if we could call
it that way and see how things were back in those days was amazing, don't you think?. I really enjoyed this shop and
I wanted to share it with you, if you ever have the chance to visit Tallinn, do visit
this shop.
We also walked around the town, one of the Europe’s most magical
capitals, competing even with Prague in the richness of its architectural
heritage.
Tallinn is the capital and the largest city with a population of
approximately 400,000 people.
Located on the shores of the Baltic with the Russian Republic to the
east, Latvia to the south and the sea to the north and west, Estonia covers an
area of about 17,500 square miles.
Tallinn was first mentioned on the World Map back in 1154 and therefore
is one of the oldest towns in the Baltic area.
This city is very charming. We
also found a store selling old books and metal pins, and I took the chance to
buy few of those gorgeous pins.
