Last week's Project was the Vintage Town Box for dad, and I wanted to
give it along with a love note, not the traditional greeting card but something
a little bit different and less elaborated, and still wanted it to look nice
& vintage. So I thought of making it
very easy with simple index cards & stamps and they came out like this:
We thought about using our collection of vintage stamps, choosing the
ones that would go better with this project.
The index cards were white in color, so to give it the aged look, we
painted them with water colors, adding more and less water to create more
dark/clear areas.
The love messages were
written with an actual typewriter, giving it an old look.
You can do these love notes very easily, here is the how to:
Materials:
- Index cards (the size of your preference)
- Water color (yellow ochre or similar)
- Brush, water & palette
- Vintage clear or wood stamps
- Stamp's Ink
Instructions:
1. Mix the yellow ochre water color with different amounts of water in the
palette to create different shades, some more dark some more clear.
2. Paint both sides of the index cards, applying the different shade mixes thought
the cards. Let them dry.
3. Apply the stamps, playing around the images according to the design you
have planned.
4. Write the love notes or poems in the back of the index cards with a typewriter or use your computer to print it with a similar font, or if you wish also use your own handwriting, whatever you like. Once you've done this, you are done.
I found lovely poems in following site, click here, but you can also
write your own. Now I am not sure which
one I will give dad, because I like them all, hehehe.
If you like these cards, I have scanned some to share with you,
feel free to print them and write a nice message:

Just found your blog and I'm the new funny faced follower! I laughed when I read the part about typing the card! I have a vintage typewriter sitting on a typing table in my bedroom. My thought: if I make a typo I can't back up and delete it like on my laptop! Such a cute card to make for Daddy!
